Wanganui District Council Wanganui spreads along the lower reaches of the Whanganui River

Councillor Jack Bullock

I am chair of Wanganui's Youth Committee, a YMCA board member, and a tertiary student at Ucol.

I stood for council because I believe in Wanganui and I wanted to offer a younger, fresher perspective to the council. We must stop the decline in Wanganui's population and seek to retain/attract the critical 18-35 year age group. To that end, I am currently developing new entertainment initiatives with council, providing direct input into the family-friendly strategy and co-ordinating free events for the young and families.

I believe in direct democracy (which gives you a direct say in council's decisions), in keeping rates low, in vigorously combating anti-social activities, and in giving Wanganui a national profile.

Council needs new ideas, and I have relevant experience, youthful energy and the proven ability to be a community leader.
