Wanganui District Council Wanganui spreads along the lower reaches of the Whanganui River

Councillor Nicki Higgie

Our Wanganui district is wonderful and I have loved serving as councillor, chairing several committees and assisting our community and Council to achieve significant successes together. I sought re-election in 2010 in order to consolidate this work.

I have the experience to be effective and the discipline to stay focused on what's vital to our community's well-being. I'm keen to control debt carefully and keep increases in rates below the rate of inflation.

We need to continue improving all aspects of community life, including family-friendly aspirations; safe roads; cultural vibrancy; our natural and built environment; and sustainable economic development.

After my urban upbringing, I married Clive and together we have developed our Fordell farm and our nationally awarded Paloma Gardens. We have three adult children and a beautiful granddaughter, born recently in Wanganui.

I work for all sectors of our diverse and dynamic community, with a very positive and inclusive attitude.
