Wanganui District Council Wanganui spreads along the lower reaches of the Whanganui River

Councillor Danny Jonas

Danny Jonas is Chair of the Wanganui District Council's Youth Committee; Chair of the Sporting Grounds Rationalisation Working Party; and the Council's leader on UCOL/Private Training Establishment (PTE) liaison.

"Wanganui’s future rests upon the ability to attract and retain families. At 41 years of age, married to Jo and with two boys – and as the Splash Centre’s facility manager – I want to create a vibrant Wanganui that offers a quality of family life second to none.

"The key is dynamic leadership from elected representatives who are looking for opportunities to grow our district. I offer many years in business and amenity management and my energy from making the Splash Centre extension a reality.

"As a member of the Life Education Trust, Wanganui Rotary and the Marist soccer club, plus coaching role for the St John’s School 1st XI, I believe I have a breadth of community service that appreciates Wanganui’s aims and aspirations. Although rates control is important, so too is the need for a kerbside recycling service and an appreciation of what climate change will mean for our city."

If you wish to discuss youth or UCOL/PTE matters, contact Danny on phone 348 4566 or email Danny Jonas.
