The Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management cancelled the tsunami advisory for New Zealand at 8.35am today.

Wanganui Civil Defence has today been monitoring the local situation after a tsunami warning was issued for New Zealand.

Earthquake
An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale struck at 1.36pm today. It was centred 20km east of Wanganui and 160km north of Wellington, at a depth of 20km.
