Location: 20 km south-west of Wanganui
Focal depth: 5km
Richter magnitude: 5.0

The Ministry of Civil Defence & Emergency Management cancelled the tsunami advisory for New Zealand at 8.35am today.

An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale struck at 1.36pm today. It was centred 20km east of Wanganui and 160km north of Wellington, at a depth of 20km.
