Temporary road closure
Whanganui City Bridge
Pursuant to the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, the Wanganui District Council has resolved to close the Whanganui City Bridge from Taupo Quay to Anzac Parade on Sunday, 29 November 2009, from 6.00am to 1.00pm to permit safe spectator viewing of the Billy Webb Challenge rowing event.

Roads that intersect with Anzac Parade between Jones Street and Eastown Road will be closed (one at a time) from Monday, 26 October 2009, until Tuesday, 19 January 2010, for the purpose of laying duct, water pipe and gas mains.
Vehicle access to residential properties on the closed section will be available at all times unless advised by the contractor.
Road users are requested to follow the sign-posted detours whilst the closures are in operation.
Proposal to close road(s)/street(s) to vehicular traffic
Cemetery Circuit
Pursuant to the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, notice is hereby given that the Wanganui District Council, for the purpose of the annual Cemetery Circuit motorcycle racing (Cemetery Circuit 2009), proposes to close the following roads and streets to ordinary vehicular traffic for the periods indicated hereunder.
Roads and streets proposed to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic:
Taupo Quay from the Warehouse building to Liffiton Street, Pacific Place, Heads Road from Taupo Quay to Liffiton Street, Liffiton Street from Heads Road to Taupo Quay, Sarjeant Street from Heads Road to Guyton Street, Guyton Street from Heads Road to Hatrick Street West, Hatrick Street East from Guyton Street to Ridgway Street, Ridgway Street from Guyton Street to Trafalgar Place, Wilson Street from Maria Place extension to Taupo Quay.
Period or periods of proposed closure:
Friday, 25 December 2009, from 2.00pm to 10.00pm and Saturday, 26 December 2009, from 4.00am to 10.00pm.
Note: There will be no racing on Christmas Day. This closure is to ensure safety for personnel to set up the track.
During the proposed periods of closure the following provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic which would otherwise use these streets and roads:
Direction signs will be in place to show the alternative route around the circuit.
Any person objecting to the proposal is called upon to lodge notice of his/her objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 27 November 2009 at the office of the Wanganui District Council, 101 Guyton Street, Wanganui.
Proposal to close road(s)/street(s) to vehicular traffic
Whanganui City Bridge
Pursuant to the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, notice is hereby given that the Wanganui District Council, for the purpose of hydroplane racing on the Whanganui River by the New Zealand Grand Prix Hydroplane Drivers' Club, proposes to close the following road to ordinary vehicular traffic for the period(s) indicated hereunder.
Road proposed to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic:
Whanganui City Bridge from Anzac Parade to Taupo Quay.
Period or periods of proposed closure:
Monday, 28 December 2009, from 7.00am to 5.00pm.
During the proposed period of closure, the following provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic which would otherwise use the Whanganui City Bridge:

Whanganui River Road seal extension
This is a joint Wanganui and Ruapehu District Council roading project to extend seal approximately 32km on the Whanganui River Road and Pipiriki-Raetihi Road over a six-year period. This $8.5 million project is 79% subsidised by Central Government as a regional funded project to develop tourism in the region and promote local employment opportunities, either directly or indirectly as a consequence of this project.
Contract 1258 – Advanced earthworks: Work began in the 2006/07 construction season. In the Wanganui District Council region, these works are completed from Matahiwi to Jerusalem. Work is now progressing between Jerusalem and Pipiriki. All advanced earthworks will be completed in the 2008/09 financial year.
Contract 1339 – Pavement Construction: Work began in the 2007/08 construction season from Matahiwi to Mokonui Road. The programme for 2008/09 is to continue towards Jerusalem, finishing between Ranana and Jerusalem. All the basecourse aggregate will continue to be supplied and loaded from Jerusalem.

Polson Street between Bamber Street and Manuka Street will be closed from 7.00am Thursday, 29 October 2009, until 5.00pm Monday, 30 November 2009, for the purpose laying a stormwater line. View map
Vehicle access to residential properties on the closed section will be available at all times unless advised by the contractor.
A sign-posted detour will not be provided.
