Funding opportunities
Wanganui District Council provides, or is involved in administering, a number of funds to assist the Wanganui community in a range of activities.
Economic Impact Funding
The purpose of the Impact Fund is to provide financial assistance, by way of grant, to events (sports, recreational, cultural, arts and entertainment).
Applications for the 2012/13 fund closed on Monday, 3 September 2012.

Community Contracts
The Community Contracts programme provides funding to community organisations which provide service initiatives that:
- Support the Long-term Plan
- Provide depth of value and benefit to the wider Wanganui community
- Increase community capacity in the Wanganui community
(Please note: the Community Contracts Fund is separate from the Impact Fund which supports initiatives that attract visitors and deliver a significant economic impact to Wanganui, and deliver sustainable programmes that raise the national profile of Wanganui).
Applications for 2012/2013 closed on Monday, 30 July 2012.

Creative Communities New Zealand Local Arts Funding Scheme
Funding is available for local community based arts activities from the Creative Communities Scheme (CCS). The scheme aims to increase participation in the arts at a local level, and increase the range and diversity of arts available to communities.
There are two rounds of applications each year.
Applications for Round One closed on Friday, 31 May 2013, for projects that begin after Monday, 10 June 2013. Late applications will not be considered.

Waste Minimisation Fund
The Waste Minimisation Fund provides financial assistance, by way of grant, seeding finance or loan, to applicants for waste minimisation initiatives that further Wanganui's waste minimisation goal. The fund has been set up to boost Wanganui's performance in waste minimisation by increasing resource reuse, recovery, recycling and decrease waste to landfill.
Applications are called for annually.

Heritage Building Assessment Assistance Fund
The Council wants to encourage building owners to upgrade buildings in the Wanganui central business district. This fund is to assist with the cost of having buildings professionally assessed for
statutory compliance with the Building Act and to provide information on the approximate costs of appropriate upgrading. The fund is not for detailed design or physical works.

$300ships is designed to help young people in the Wanganui district reach their potential in anything they are interested or involved in.
