Issue No. 159 - 19 June 2004

Council to adopt plans next week

Next week the Council will finalise its budgets and work programmes for the 2004/05 year.

On June 15-17 the Strategy Committee heard public submissions on the Draft Annual Plan 2004/05 and accompanying Service Management Plan.

The Strategy Committee meets on Tuesday to Thursday (June 22-24), starting at 9am, to discuss matters raised in the submissions and to recommend changes to the plan before it is adopted.

The Strategy Committee will recommend any changes to a Council meeting to be held immediately after the Strategy Committee meeting finishes (this is expected to be about 4pm on Thursday, June 24). The purpose of the Council meeting is to adopt the plans, including any amendments.

The meetings are open to the public and will be held in the Council Chamber on the first floor of the Council building at 101 Guyton Street.

Dog Registration 2004/05

Yes, it's that time again…

You need to register your dog because it…

- Helps to identify it if it strays
- Helps to prove ownership
- Helps if the dog is stolen
- Helps if the dog is injured
- Helps if your dog is impounded

Register your dog before 31 July 2004 and save $10.00.

If you pay after 31 July 2004 you will lose the $10.00 early payment rebate.

If you pay after 31 August 2004 you will lose the $25.00 good dog owner rebate.

If you don't register your dog, the automatic fine is $300.00.

Remember the third (and subsequent) 'working' dog costs only $5.00, and the fourth (and subsequent) 'non working' dog costs $10.00.

All dogs over three months old must be registered by law.

Davis Library - Is where it's all happening…

Unfortunately, the Mobile can't make it to Trafalgar Square today, as it is having its heater refitted.

In the meantime, if you are feeling the chill, check out the Library's 'Winter Warmer Specials'.

See you at Queens Park - 9.00am-4.30pm, where things are really heating up.
