Dog Control Policy Review

Your chance to have a say on issues relating to Dog Control in Wanganui.

The Council is reviewing the current Dog Control Policy and seeks your input in the form of written submissions.

Copies of the Draft Dog Control Policy and submission forms are available from the Council's Customer Services counter and the Wanganui District Library, or can be requested by phoning 349 0001 extension 8191.

The draft policy is a mixture of current and proposed policies and procedures to address local Dog Control issues.

Your written submission will help determine the content of the final policy.

Submissions close at 4.00pm on 29 March 2002.

The Council is also willing to hear from interested community groups that may wish to discuss Dog Control issues with Council officers through an organised meeting.

Road Closure: Mt View Road

Wanganui Water Services advises that Mt View Road (below Iris Place) will be closed to allow upgrading of the Council's water reticulation system.

Mt View Road (below Iris Place) will be closed for approximately three weeks, between Monday, 25 February 2002, and Saturday, 16 March 2002, during normal work hours from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

Alternative access to upper Mt View Road and the rest of Bastia Hill will be via Georgetti Road or Wairere Road.

Applications for financial assistance under the Hillary Commission Community Sport Fund are now being called for.

A total of $48,000 is available for distribution to sport, fitness and physical leisure groups.

Funds are available as a subsidy or loan, with the main focus being the development of local sport, fitness and physical activity.

Applicants should be resident in the Wanganui District Council area and apply for funds for sport, fitness and physical leisure purposes only.

Wanganui City Water Supply - Waitahinga Dam

The public is advised that the use of Waitahinga Dam for drinking water supply purposes will cease from 31 March 2002.

Contract No. 999: Lenihan Street Wanganui East Bore

Tenders are invited for Wanganui District Council Contract No. 999, Lenihan Street, Water Bore.

The work is located in Lenihan Street, off Eastown Road in Wanganui East on the outskirts of the City.

The contract objective is to construct a production well for supply of potable water to Wanganui City.

The work required by this contract is to locate and test the water bearing strata to a depth of approximately 500 metres. If a suitable aquifer is located installation of a slotted well screen, development and final testing of the aquifer will be required.

Notice of Proposed Temporary Road Closure to Vehicular Traffic
[Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965]

Koatanui Road - Sunday, 7 April 2002

The Wanganui Car Club, for the purpose of a hill climb event, proposes to close Koatanui Road from Tokomaru West Road to 200 metres north of the bridge on Koatanui Road on Sunday, 7 April 2002, from 9.00am until 6.00pm.

During the closure, provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic which would otherwise use Koatanui Road.

Any person objecting to the proposed road closure should lodge notice of his/her objections and grounds thereof in writing before 10 March 2002 at the Wanganui District Council, 101 Guyton Street, Wanganui.
