Proposal to stop road
Pursuant to Section 342 Local Government Act 1974 – corner Montgomery Road and State Highway 3 Wanganui The Wanganui District Council proposes by recommendation: 1. That an area of 0.2541 Ha of legal and closed road described as Section 1 on Survey Office Plan No. 422441 be stopped; AND 2. That an area of fee simple land comprising 0.1396 Ha and described as Section 2 on Survey Office Plan No. 422441 be taken for road. The above actions will legalise the "as built" situation where Montgomery Road meets State Highway 3. Survey Office Plan No. 422441 showing the two areas described above is now available for public inspection at the Customer Services Counter, Municipal Office Building, 101 Guyton Street, Wanganui, between 8.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Any objection to the proposal must be lodged in writing with the Chief Executive, Wanganui District Council, PO Box 637, Wanganui within 40 days of the publication of this notice, namely 15 December 2009. Temporary road closure
Road intersections with Anzac Parade – Jones Street to Eastown Road Chorus Telecom Roads that intersect with Anzac Parade between Jones Street and Eastown Road will be closed (one at a time) from Monday, 26 October 2009, until Tuesday, 19 January 2010, for the purpose of laying duct, water pipe and gas mains. Vehicle access to residential properties on the closed section will be available at all times unless advised by the contractor. Lake Wiritoa closures for the 2009/10 season
During the 2009/10 season, the ski lane area at Lake Wiritoa will be closed at the following times for the Wanganui Water Ski Club (from Saturday, 31 October 2009, through to Sunday, 25 April 2010):
The ski lane area will also be closed every Wednesday night from dusk to dawn for jet skiers. Lake Wiritoa will not be closed over the Christmas period December 25 to January 4. The passive area will be open to the public throughout the season. The lake will also be closed on the following dates from dawn to dusk.

Possum poison (cholecalciferol gel bait) stations
Possum poison will be laid in bait stations at Victoria Park cricket ground and Kowhai Park arboretum from Friday, 14 August 2009, to Monday, 30 November 2009. Bait stations will be well above the reach of small children and dogs. When in these areas, please keep dogs under control at all times or muzzled. Should they consume any carcasses or parts, please seek veterinary advice. Rates rebates
1 July 2009 – 30 June 2010 The income threshold for rates rebate is $21,910 and the maximum allowable rebate is $550. However, if your income exceeds $21,910 you could still be entitled to a rebate depending on the total cost of your rates and the number of dependents. Ratepayers need to apply to the Wanganui District Council for a rates rebate. Those who are eligible will then either have their rates reduced by the amount of the rebate, or receive a refund if the rates have been paid in full for the year. The Department of Internal Affairs reimburses the Council from Crown funds. |
