Proposal to close road(s)/street(s) to vehicular traffic
Okoia Hill Road Pursuant to the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, notice is hereby given that the Wanganui District Council, for the purpose of a hillclimb event by the Wanganui Car Club, proposes to close the following road to ordinary vehicular traffic for the period(s) indicated hereunder. Road proposed to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic: Period of proposed closure: During the proposed period of closure, the following provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic which would otherwise use this road: Access is via Matarawa Valley Road. Any person objecting to the proposal is called upon to lodge notice of their objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 4 July 2010 at the office of the Council, 101 Guyton Street, Wanganui. |

Tenders
Contract 1455 – Pensioner flat grounds maintenance east Tenders are invited from suitably qualified contractors for these grounds maintenance contracts. The contracts have an initial period of three years. The work involves mowing and the maintenance of shrub and garden beds. Tenders close for Contract 1455 and 1456 on Tuesday, 6 July 2010. Contract 1454 – Kowhai Park maintenance Tenders are invited from suitably qualified contractors for the grounds maintenance for Kowhai Park. The work involves turf mowing and maintenance, planting and garden bed maintenance, and general grounds maintenance to a high standard, fitting the status of Kowhai Park as one of Wanganui's premier parks and playgrounds. Temporary road closure

Access to the Castlecliff Camp Ground will be via Matai Street/Karewa Street. Vehicle access to residential properties on the closed section will be available at all times. Road users are requested to follow the signposted detours whilst the closure is in operation. |

Notification of intention to grant ground lease & licence

Resource Management Act
Proposed Plan Change 18:Vehicle Crossings Public notice is hereby given in accordance with Clause 5 of the First Schedule of the Resource Management Act 1991 (The Act) that the Wanganui District Council has prepared Plan Change 18 to the Wanganui District Plan. The Wanganui District Council notifies the Plan Change as follows: Proposed Plan Change 18: Vehicle Crossings Proposed Plan Change 18 seeks to remove the existing vehicle crossing rules that solely relate to traffic safety and to address the visual amenity effects on streetscapes that are caused by multiple vehicle crossings to access sites. By creating a maximum number of crossings per site, the plan intends to allow access to sites, while providing a safe and attractive environment for pedestrians, motorists and owners and occupiers of sites adjoining the road reserve. Submission forms and copies of Plan Change are available for public inspection from the Customer Service Desk, Wanganui District Council, 101 Guyton Street, Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm, and from the District Library, Queens Park, Wanganui. Submissions relating to any aspect of the Plan Change should be made in writing and on the prescribed form and addressed to: Wanganui District Council Or faxed to (06) 349 0000 Submissions close at 5.00pm, on Friday, 18 June 2010. After the submission period has closed, the Council will prepare a summary of all decisions requested by the submissions. The Council will notify the availability of that summary and where the summary can be inspected. There is then an opportunity to make further submissions about any of the original submissions. The Council will hold a Hearing to the submissions. All persons who make a submission or further submission and who requested to be heard will be advised of the date, time and place of the Hearing. Somme Parade Pavement Rehabilitation and Safety
Improvements Project Somme Parade between Dublin Street and Gloucester Street Road works are being done in Somme Parade between Dublin Street and Gloucester Street from 18 January 2010 for an estimated period of three months. The road works are necessary to address deficiencies in the existing road pavement, enable widening of the carriageway and alterations to intersection layouts for safety purposes. The completed works will make provision for cyclists. Motorists will notice significant improvements to road surface smoothness. At times during the work, the public will experience unavoidable delays. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes around the perimeter of the road works. Residents within the work zone will be informed of impending work via a letter drop and updated on progress during the project period. |

Ratepayers need to apply to the Wanganui District Council for a rates rebate. Those who are eligible will then either have their rates reduced by the amount of the rebate, or receive a refund if the rates have been paid in full for the year. The Department of Internal Affairs reimburses the Council from Crown funds. |
