Issue No. 51 - 25 May 2002
Planning documents to be debated next week

Councillors this week heard community views on a variety of issues relating to the Council's annual planning documents.

More than 60 individuals and organisations presented their submissions at a Strategy Committee special meeting held over three days.

Next week the Committee will consider a further 178 submissions, made in writing or by telephone, before debating the issues raised by the submissions. The 10-Year, Annual and Service Management Plans will then be adopted, subject to any changes made during the Council's deliberations.

Deliberations on the draft plans will continue at 9am on Tuesday, May 28, with consideration of the written submissions. The meeting is scheduled to continue on Wednesday and Thursday.

Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting to hear the Council's debate. It will be held in the Council Chamber on the first floor of the Guyton Street municipal building, starting at 9am each day.
