Youth Day Out
A one-day entertainment event

Be at the War Memorial Hall forecourt on Saturday, May 20, to help Wanganui's young people celebrate Youth Week.

"Youth Day Out" will be held on the forecourt on Saturday, between 10am and 3pm. It has been organised by a Youth Committee subcommittee comprising Christopher Ross, Milly Mitchell-Anyon, Jeremy Loader, Kirsti Parkes, Ariana Emery, Ruth Huirama, Hayley Bishop, George Parker and Charlena Tepu.

The day kicks off at 10am with a graffiti art demonstration, jousting and mechanical bull. Two graffiti artists will be doing a 7m x 2m canvas drop with art work based around the 're-define' youth week theme and they are keen to teach others.

At 11am there will be a basketball shoot-out competition.

Make sure you're there at midday to participate in, or watch, the team sack race. Teams of four can register at the Council before Saturday. Registrations will also be taken on the day.

Bands and a DJ will be playing throughout the day. The entertainment includes local school bands, as well as 'Maryland' and 'Twice Daily' from Palmerston North, plus a kapa haka performance by Te Roopu and performances by City Beats, breakdancers and Pacific Islands drumming group.

Everyone, young and old and in between, is invited to come along and celebrate Wanganui's fantastic young people.
