Issue No. 43 - 30 March 2002

An invitation to make a submission to our plans

Wanganui residents are invited to have their say about the Wanganui District Council's draft plans for the coming year and the next 10 years.

The plans are the Draft 10-Year Plan (2002-2012), Annual Plan (2002/03) and Service Management Plan (2002-2012).

They are available for public submissions until May 3.

How to make a submission

There are two ways to make a submission to the plans. You can ring the Annual Plan hotline to make your submission verbally, or you can make a written submission.

Hotline submissions

When you call the Annual Plan hotline, you will be asked to give your name and some contact details. You can then state your submission and this will be noted for forwarding to the Council for consideration with all other submissions. Please let the Customer Services representative who takes your call know whether you wish to speak to your submission when it is considered by the Council.

The hotline number is 349 0501.

Written submissions

If you wish to make a written submission, there is a submission form available. This can be filled in with your full submission, or you may prefer to write or type your submission separately and then attach it to the submission form.

For written submissions, we suggest that you format your submission as follows:

  • Your name and contact details.
  • The topic/s of your submission.
  • Details of your submission (what you want the Council to do).
  • If your submission covers a range of topics, we suggest that you use separate headings for each within your submission document. This ensures that, if you have a large submission covering a number of topics, none of your concerns or suggestions will be overlooked.
  • Whether you wish to speak to your submission when it is considered by the Council (please remember to give us your contact details so we can get in touch with you to arrange this).

The Council will consider the submissions at a series of meetings on May 21-23.

Copies of the draft plans are available from the Customer Services Desk at the Council building, 101 Guyton Street, and from the District Library.
