Reward passes $2,000 for rock thrower(s) - 2/03/2009

The reward for information leading to the arrest of person or persons connected with the rock assault on Mayor Michael Laws’ home has risen to $2,100.

The reward has been put up by the mayor, ‘Radio Live’ listeners and members of the Wanganui public. The Police are investigating.

“I am very grateful for the public support that my family and I have received. Leonie and I really appreciate it. The best thing that we can collectively do is catch these cowards,” said Mayor Laws.

The incident occurred at approximately 4.50am on Thursday morning. The rock thrower came onto the family property of Mayor Laws and targeted a child’s bedroom. They ten sped off in a waiting car.

“Someone will have seen something – or be aware of some idle boasting by the culprits. The informant(s) have an absolute guarantee as to their anonymity if they supply information leading to arrest. They can contact either the Mayor’s Office direct or the Wanganui Police. Confidentiality is assured.”
