Chief Executive and Mayor release credit card spending details - 29/07/2010Chief Executive Kevin Ross has today released records of transactions for council issued credit cards for himself and Mayor Michael Laws.
The records have been released in response to a Local Government Official Information Act request from The Dominion Post, who requested this information from a number of local authorities.
The records cover financial years 2008/09 and 2009/10, although the Mayor was only issued with a credit card in July 2009.
The records have been reviewed by the Office of the Auditor General, and the transactions were considered appropriate and spending was in line with council policy. Items identified as “personal” had been reimbursed immediately in line with current policy.
In addition to credit card transactions, Mayor Michael Laws has spent $4,416.70 in the time period under Official Information Act review upon civic and mayoral related expenses from his personal account, but not sought reimbursement from council funds. He was entitled to do so.
