Graffiti - 29/04/2011In response to an alarming increase in citywide graffiti a few years ago, Council researched and then adopted the Graffiti Management Strategy in April 2008. Council now plans to review how effective that strategy has been at enabling enforcement, eradicating graffiti and educating the community. The review will also consider existing graffiti research and other Councils’ graffiti management practices.
An initial report starting the review was tabled at the 18 April Council meeting.
While there has been a recent drop in graffiti, it is difficult to determine why tagging peaks and flows. Generally there is a spike in graffiti in school holidays.
Council budgets $120,000 per year for the Graffiti team. |
