Wanganui’s youth have their say - 11/06/2012Wanganui District Council’s Youth Committee is ready to connect with the wider youth community at Dub.Dee.See. Youth Connect 2012.
The Youth Forum takes place today and tomorrow (June 11-12) and is funded by the Youth Committee and the Ministry of Youth Development and coordinated in partnership with Underground Youth Trust.
Young people from Wanganui’s schools, training providers and employment services will attend different workshops and be able to provide input and ideas into what they think would make Wanganui an even better place for young people.
Workshop leaders include representatives from Wanganui District Health Board, Sport Wanganui and the Ministry of Youth Development, as well they will hear from some inspirational young people.
Ideas and information gathered at the forum will feed into the Youth Committee’s 10-Year Strategic Plan.
p>“This is a great opportunity for our young people to get together, connect and engage and let their voices be heard,” says Cr Jack Bullock, Youth Committee Chair.
“It’s going to be a valuable and exciting two days and I’m looking forward to finding out how we can all work together to improve opportunities for Wanganui youth.”
