Sewage contamination – Hackett Street/Burton Avenue - 7/07/2006

Wanganui Civil Defence advises that surface flooding in the Hackett Street/Burton Avenue area is contaminated with sewage due to overloading of the pump station.

Residents are advised to keep out of the flood waters.

The contamination will be contained within that catchment and will not spread to other areas.

Civil Defence personnel are currently going door to door in the area to advise residents.
