Community Safety Needs Assessment
Wanganui District Council and the Wanganui Safer Community Advisory Group are together addressing our community’s crime and injury rates through the “Safe Community” approach.
Safe Communities is a World Health Organisation (WHO) initiative that recognises safety as a “universal concern” and a responsibility for all. Safe Communities creates an infrastructure in local communities to increase action on injury prevention and safety promotion including crime prevention through building local partnerships.
This work is based on 3 core values:
- Safety is a fundamental human right
- People are at the heart of making communities safer places in which to live, learn, travel and play
- Everybody has a responsibility to promote and maintain their safety and the safety of others.
Partners with your Council on this significant initiative include: Wanganui Police, ACC, Whanganui District Health Board and Whanganui Iwi.
We need your help to identify and prioritise the safety issues within the Wanganui community.
Please print out and fill in this questionnaire (PDF, 90KB)
or you can collect one from the Wanganui District Library, Community House, or the District Council Offices.
