Issue No. 114 - 9 August 2003
Parking charges increase in Victoria Avenue
The Council has decided to raise the parking meter charges from 80 cents to $1 per hour along Victoria Avenue between Taupo Quay and Ingestre Street.
This decision was made through the annual planning process. The revenue from on-street parking needs to be increased to make up for the loss of income from having the free two-hour shopper parking in St Hill and Watt Streets.
The change will be effective from Monday, 11 August 2003. The parking meters will have stickers attached to them which will explain the charges for one-hour or shorter-term parking.
The following information is from the Council's Social Indicators Report 2003. The report, which has been updated each year since 1997, measures the social well-being of Wanganui. It covers a broad range of aspects of social well-being - summaries of some of the other areas will be published in future weeks.

If you have any comments on the above questions or anything that relates to the use of alcohol in this community, we would like to hear from you.
