Temporary road closure
Whangaehu Valley Road

(Contractor: Works Infrastructure Ltd)

Road stabilisation works to the Whangaehu Valley Road between 1-2km are programmed from Wednesday, 22 September 2004, until Friday, 8 October 2004.

During these specific phases of the works, the Whangaehu Valley Road is likely to be closed between 7.00am and 5.30pm. Provision will be made for emergency vehicles.

Your co-operation in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

The Council regrets any inconvenience caused.

Builder licensing - Tell the Government what you think

The Building Bill sets out proposals to introduce a licensing system to building practitioners. The Bill is currently being considered by Parliament.

A discussion document called "Licensing of Building Practitioners: Discussing the Options" outlines the proposed system and includes questions to help you make a submission.

It focuses on two key issues:

  • What work should be restricted to licensed people?
  • Who should be licensed?

Submissions close 30 November 2004

This is an important chance to have your say and help get the decisions on what work is restricted and who is licensed right.

You can get the discussion document by:

  • Downloading it from www.builders.govt.nz
  • Calling the freephone line on 0800 60 60 50
  • Picking one up from the Council's Customer Services Desk at 101 Guyton Street

Meetings

Consultation meetings on building licensing are being held in September at venues in Palmerston North and New Plymouth (but not Wanganui).
