How this service is provided Public swimming pools provide safe, all-year swimming
and instructional opportunities to the community. Wanganui's three public
pools are the Splash Centre, Gonville and Wanganui East. Services provided All pools have:

Business Unit Directors Wanganui District Council is seeking expressions of interest in positions as Directors of the following Council Business Units: Water Services, Environmental Services, Library. Business Units are semi-autonomous entities under the Council's organisational structure. They report to the Chief Executive Officer and fulfil a governance role of ensuring the Units operate in a businesslike and socially acceptable manner. Directors should have the following generic attributes:

The Holding Company is a Local Authority Trading Enterprise (LATE) constituted under the Companies Act and in accordance with the Local Government Act. Wanganui District Council Holdings will be formed in February or March and will own and/or oversee Council trading undertakings. Directors should have the following generic attributes:

| Heads Road
Cemetery
The Heads Road Cemetery was closed for burials in 1915, pursuant to the Cremation Act 1908, subsequently superseded by the Burials and Cremations Act 1964. The Burials and Cremations Act 1964 has now been amended by the Burial and Cremation Amendment Act 2000. This amendment allows for closed cemeteries to be reopened by order of the Minister of Health. The Wanganui District Council is applying to the Minister for an opening order to allow burials in the Heads Road Cemetery. Submissions for or against this proposal are invited from members of the public. Submissions are to be addressed to: Mr E Sim Submissions are to be received at Council no later than 4.00pm on Friday, 25 January 2002. |
