Building Consents for Christmas

For those people contemplating starting building projects through the Christmas holidays, please ensure that you lodge your Building Consent application before 22 November 2007, to allow Council to process your project within the 20 working day allowance before Christmas.

Remember that full and complete documentation will ensure a faster throughput at a lower cost.

Lake Wiritoa closure notice

Lake Wiritoa will be closed to the public on Saturday, 17 November 2007, between 9.00am and midnight, for the Wanganui Freshwater Anglers' Club fishing competition.

The beach area will remain open for passive recreation.

Wastewater separation update

Wastewater separationThere is ongoing separation work in Carlton Avenue between Jackson Street and Smithfield Road.

Smithfield Road remains closed between the Carlton Avenue intersection and No.25 Smithfield Road.

Burns Street, between Konini Street and Smithfield Road, remains closed until Saturday, November 17.

Toi Street, between Burns Street and Rutherford School, will be closed from Monday, November 19, to Friday, December 21.

Works are continuing in Portal Street opposite Plunket Street, and between No.22 and 30 Hipango Terrace.

Wanganui Wastewater Separation Project

Toi StreetToi Street, between Burns Street and the Rutherford Intermediate School entrance, will be closed from 7.00am Monday, 19 November 2007, until 6.00pm Friday, 21 December 2007, for the purpose of installing a sanitary sewer drain.

Vehicle access to properties along the closed section of road will be available at all times.

A signposted detour will not be provided whilst the closure is in operation.

Selwyn Crescent – Hadfield Crescent to Hadfield Crescent

Selwyn CrescentSelwyn Crescent, between the two Hadfield Crescent intersections, will be closed from 8.00am Monday, 19 November 2007, until 5.00pm Thursday, 22 November 2007, for the purpose of road carriageway reconstruction.

Residents in the closed section of Selwyn Crescent will have vehicle access to their properties at all times.

Road users are requested to follow the sign posted detours (via Hadfield Crescent) whilst the closure is in operation.

Notice of proposed temporary road closure to vehicular traffic
[Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965]

The Wanganui Motorcycle Club, for the purpose of the annual cemetery circuit motorcycle races, proposes to close Taupo Quay from the Warehouse building to Liffiton Street, Pacific Place, Heads Road from Taupo Quay to Liffiton Street, Liffiton Street from Heads Road to Taupo Quay, Sarjeant Street from Heads Road to Guyton Street, Guyton Street from Heads Road to Hatrick Street West, Hatrick Street East from Guyton Street to Ridgway Street, Ridgway Street from Guyton Street to Trafalgar Place, Wilson Street from Maria Place extension to Taupo Quay on Tuesday, 25 December 2007, from 2.00pm to 10.00pm and Wednesday, 26 December 2007, from 4.00am to 10.00pm.

There will be no racing on Christmas Day. This closure is to ensure safety for the personnel to set up the track.

During the closure, provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic which would otherwise use these roads.

Any person objecting to the proposed road closure should lodge notice of his/her objections and grounds thereof in writing before 27 November 2007 at the Wanganui District Council, 101 Guyton Street, Wanganui.

Prequalification of contractors

Supply and lay watermain in Great North Road – Contract 1348

Wanganui District Council intends to replace approximately 1400 metres of water main in Great North Road between Virginia Road and Rapanui Road in 600mm dia pipe.

Contractors interested in tendering for the above contract are requested to register their interest by submitting the following information:

  1. Brief company profile.
  2. Details of current and completed contracts of similar nature showing value, pipe material and size, start and finish dates, client and client contact details.

The above information shall not exceed five A4 sheets.

It is expected that approximately six contractors will be shortlisted and forwarded the tender documents.

Prequalification closes with the Secretary, Tenders Board, Wanganui District Council, PO Box 637 Wanganui at 4.00pm on Tuesday, 20 November 2007.

Resource Management Act 1991
Wanganui District Plan Change 10

Public notice is hereby given in accordance with Clause 5 of the First Schedule of the Resource Management Act 1991 (The Act) that the Wanganui District Council has prepared Plan Change 10 to the Wanganui District Plan.

The Wanganui District Council notifies the Plan Change as follows:

Proposed Plan Change 10: Subdivision and Development Standards

Proposed Plan Change 10 proposes to incorporate NZS4404:2004 Land Development and Subdivision Engineering and the Wanganui District Council Land Development and Subdivision Engineering Supplement to NZS4404 (April 2007) into the District Plan as an assessment criteria and matter over which Council has control when assessing resource consent applications for subdivisions.

Submission forms and copies of Plan Change 10 are available for public inspection, during normal working hours, at the Customer Service Desk at the Wanganui District Council, 101 Guyton Street, and also at the District Library, Queens Park, Wanganui.

Submissions relating to any aspect of the Plan Change should be in writing and on the prescribed form, which is available from the Council Offices or the District Library, and addressed to:

The closing date for submissions is 5.00pm, 16 November 2007.

After the submission period has closed, the Council will prepare a summary of all decisions requested by the submissions. The Council will notify (early December) the availability of that summary and where the summary can be inspected. There is then an opportunity to make further submissions about any of the original submissions. The Council will then hold a Hearing to the submissions. All persons who make a submission or further submission and who requested to be heard will be advised of the date, time and place of the Hearing. The Council will then make decisions on the submissions and further submissions. Any submitter or further submitter may refer the decision on their submission to the Environment Court.

Notification of Intention to Grant Ground Lease

Pursuant to Section 54 (1) (b) of the Reserves Act 1977 notice is hereby given of an intention to issue a ground lease for the term of 20 years over 4032 square metres of land, being part of Section 396, Right Bank, Wanganui River, situated in Block IX Westmere Survey District, also known as Gonville Recreation Reserve, for the purposes of a sports club.

Written submissions (stating the grounds for objection) to the issue of the lease should be forwarded to the undersigned by 4.00pm on 16 November 2007.
