Lake Wiritoa closure
Lake Wiritoa will be closed to the public on Saturday, January 12, and Sunday, January 13, for the Wanganui Water Ski Club Goldstar Tournament. The beach area will remain open for passive recreation. |

Notice of proposed temporary road closure to vehicular traffic
[Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965] The Wanganui Road Rodders Club, for the purpose of the annual drag racing, proposes to close Taupo Quay from Heads Road near Suzuki to Mason Terrace, including Pacific Place, on Sunday, 17 February 2008, from 6.00am to 6.00pm. During the closure, provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic which would otherwise use Taupo Quay. Any person objecting to the proposed road closure should lodge notice of his/her objections and grounds thereof in writing before 20 January 2008 at the Wanganui District Council, 101 Guyton Street, Wanganui. |

Restricted Fire Season
Pursuant to the Forest and Rural Fire Acts 1977 Section 22, and the District Council Bylaws, notice is hereby given that the lighting of fires in the open air in Wanganui District is restricted from midnight Friday, 7 December 2007. All fires in the open are required to have a permit. The restriction applies to all the land administered by the Wanganui District Council as a Fire Authority. And further that this restriction remains in force until further notice. Exceptions: the following activities are permitted: Provided: In all cases a person lighting a fire within the bounds of these exceptions shall remain in attendance at the fire until it is fully extinguished. It shall be no legal defence against claims for damage caused by any fire, that such fire was of the type, or lit at the time, permitted by this notice. Rural fire permits will be issued on Thursdays and Fridays. One week's advance notice is required for small fires (less than 2 hectares) and 3 weeks' advance notice for larger burns (equal to or greater than 2 hectares). Wanganui District Plan Summary of submissions available and call for further submissions to Public notice is hereby given in accordance with clause 7 of the First Schedule of the Resource Management Act 1991 (The Act) that the Wanganui District Council has prepared a summary of submissions made to: Proposed Plan Change 10: Subdivision and Development Standards Proposed Plan Change 10 proposes to incorporate NZS4404:2004 Land Development and Subdivision Engineering and the Wanganui District Council Land Development and Subdivision Engineering Supplement to NZS4404 (April 2007) into the District Plan as an assessment criteria and matter over which Council has control when assessing resource consents applications for subdivisions. Copies of all the submissions received and a summary of the decisions requested by submitters to the proposed Plan Change are available for public inspection, during normal working hours, at the Customer Service Desk at the Wanganui District Council, 101 Guyton Street, and at the District Library, Queens Park, Wanganui. The Wanganui District Council now invites further written submissions in support of, or in opposition to, those submissions already made. Further submissions may only be in support of, or in opposition to, submissions already made to the proposed Plan Change 10. Rates rebates

Ratepayers need to apply to the Wanganui District Council for a rates rebate. Those who are eligible will then either have their rates reduced by the amount of the rebate, or receive a refund if the rates have been paid in full for the year. The Department of Internal Affairs reimburses the Council from Crown funds. |
