Closure road(s)/street(s) to ordinary vehicular traffic

Pursuant to the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, notice is hereby given that for the purpose of a hill climb event by the Wanganui Car Club the following road will be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic for the period indicated hereunder.

During the proposed period of closure, the following provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic which would otherwise use Pukerimu Road from State Highway 3 to Lawrence's property.

Period or periods of closure:
Sunday, 24 August 2008, from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Alternative provision for ordinary vehicular traffic:
The Wanganui Car Club will allow controlled access through Pukerimu Road during the closure.

It will be an offence under the above regulations for any person, otherwise than under authority of an authorised permit, to use the road for ordinary vehicular traffic during the period of closure.

Proposal to close road(s)/street(s) to vehicular traffic

During the proposed period of closure, the following provision will be made for ordinary vehicular traffic which would otherwise use Tokomaru East Road: the Wanganui Car Club will allow controlled access through Tokomaru East Road.

Any person objecting to the proposal is called upon to lodge notice of their objection and grounds thereof in writing before 7 September 2008 at the office of the Wanganui District Council, 101 Guyton Street, Wanganui.

Road proposed to be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic:
Tokomaru East Road from R Brown's gateway to the top of the following hill.

Period of proposed closure:
Sunday, 5 October 2008, from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Tenders - building contracts

Sexton Services, Cemetery Operation and Grounds Maintenance

Tenders are invited from suitably experienced contractors to manage the Aramoho Cemetery and crematorium operations and to provide interment services at all other Council-run cemeteries in the Wanganui District.

Dog Registration Fees 2008–2009

The Wanganui District Council gives notice, as required by the Dog Control Act 1996, Section 37(b) of the Dog Registration Fees set by resolution of Council on 19 May 2008.

The Dog Registration Fees are for the 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009 year.

The fee for dogs classified as 'dangerous' is 150% of the level that would apply if the dog were not classified as a dangerous dog (Section 32, 1(e) of the Dog Control Act 1996).

Microchipping of dogs
From 1 July 2006 the following are required to be microchipped:

  • All dogs registered in New Zealand for the first time (excluding working dogs that are exempt).
  • All dogs that have been classified as dangerous or menacing on or after 1 December 2003 (including working dogs).
  • All unregistered dogs that are impounded.
  • All registered dogs that are impounded twice from 1 July 2006.
Wastewater separation update

Wastewater separationSmithfield Road, from London Street to Burns Street, will be closed for approximately another week. Access for residents will still be available.

Kawatiri Avenue, between Dustin Street and Gorran Avenue, will be closed for approximately two weeks for the installation of a stormwater line.

Work continues in Rawhiti Place and into Addenbrooke Terrace and traffic restrictions will remain in place.

Works continue in Webb Road for another week; however, full vehicle access is now available.

Works will continue along Alma Road for approximately another eight weeks. The road will remain open, but traffic restrictions will be in place.

There will be some minor works in Wilson Street; however, full vehicle access is still available.

Temporary road closure: Shakespeare Road

Shakespeare Stage 1Shakespeare Road between Georgetti Road and No.34 Shakespeare Road will be closed until Saturday, 18 October 2008, for the purpose of constructing new sewer and stormwater drains (see Stage 1 map).

At some time during the period of closure, the actual closure will change to between house Nos. 14 and 34 as shown on the Stage 2 map.

Vehicle access to properties on Shakespeare Road will be available at all times.

However, the contractor will liaise with property owners who may not have access to their properties for short periods during the closure.Shakespeare Stage 2

A signposted detour will not be provided.

Kawatiri AvenueKawatiri Avenue, between Dustin Street and Gorran Avenue, will be closed until 5.00pm Saturday, 20 September 2008, for the purpose of installing a stormwater drain.

Access to properties along the closed section will be available at all times.

A signposted detour will not be provided.
