Tree removals

Wanganui District Council Property Group intends to remove street trees during May/June in the following two locations:

Willow Place
As a result of small berms and large trees, the footpath is continually being repaired. It is proposed to replant this street with appropriate species.

Hakeke Street
From Anzac Parade to Poutini Street trees located under overhead services will be removed. Hakeke Street is part of a designated route for over dimension loads and the trees are making it difficult for large loads to navigate without causing damage to the trees. It is proposed to replant this route with smaller compact shrubs.

For further information contact Richard Terrey, phone (06) 349 0001, during normal working hours (Monday to Friday, 8.00am–5.00pm). Timing of the work will depend on the weather and the availability of contractors.

Lake Wiritoa closure for gamebird hunting season

Lake Wiritoa will be partially closed from Monday, May 4, until the end of the gamebird hunting season on Sunday, June 28.

During this period, the lake will be closed from 4.00pm until noon the following day to allow hunters to shoot in the mornings and evenings. The lake will be open to the public from noon until 4.00pm on these days.
