Issue No. 42 - 23 March 2002

It's time to have your say on Council plans

Wanganui residents are invited to have their say about the Wanganui District Council's draft plans for the coming year and the next 10 years.

Which documents is the Council consulting on?

  • The Draft 10-Year Plan (2002-2012) - Our Future Journey gives an overview of the Council's vision and its direction over the next 10 years. It includes the long-term financial plan.
  • The Draft Annual Plan (2002-2003) looks at year one of the significant activities in our 10-Year Plan. It is a document written to meet legal requirements and includes information such as the funding policy and other financial policies.
  • Each of the Council's services is examined in detail in the Draft Service Management Plan (2002-2012). It includes work packages, financial information, details about the service provided and any significant changes proposed in the next 10 years.

In the coming weeks we'll be telling you more about what's in the plans and the submission process.

You can pick up copies of any of the plans from the Council's Customer Services Desk and from the District Library from Monday, March 25.

How to have your say

You can make a submission to the plans by filling in the submission form, and attaching any additional information, or by phoning the hotline on 349 0501.

The draft plans are available for public submissions from March 25 to May 3. The Council will then consider all submissions at a series of meetings scheduled for May 21-23. People who have made a submission have the opportunity to speak about their submission to the Council at those meetings if they wish.

Following consideration of the public submissions, the Council will meet on May 28-30 to finalise the plans.
