| Winter Gardens Special Opening
Saturday, 14 July 2001
In support of the event, the Winter Gardens will be open from 6.00pm until 8.30pm, with the conservatory and outdoor gardens illuminated to allow visitors an opportunity to see them in all their glory, Senior Parks Officer Keith Hindson said. "Since the last opening we have learnt several valuable lessons and have improved the lighting," Keith said. "They look totally different when we light the specimen plants and features in the evening. It is also an opportunity for people to see the latest addition to the lake lighting project. "We have changed the majority of the indoor display plants since the last special opening. The displays now include ornamental gourds, pumpkins and sweetcorn as well as fragrant cyclamen which fill the conservatory with their heady scent. As we anticipate it being cold and frosty on Saturday, we shall be serving homemade pumpkin soup for a small donation." So rather than sit in front of the TV, why not make it a family evening and
experience the exciting new lake lighting and Winter Gardens at night?
