Higginbottom Fountain returned to Virginia Lake - 17/10/2011

The Higginbottom Fountain is being returned to Virginia Lake today, after undergoing repairs and renovation.

The fountain will be lowered into the lake by a crane and the dive team will be on hand to anchor the fountain and connect the motor.

Once in place, the fountain will undergo a period of testing to ensure the new lighting system and electrical work is functioning properly before the fountain is fully operational.

“The Higginbottom Fountain is a much loved feature of Virginia Lake and it’s great to have it back in place as summer approaches,” says Cr Ray Stevens, Chair of the Infrastructure and Property Committee.

“The work, which has been undertaken by a team of volunteers, means that once operational again the fountain will continue to enchant visitors to Virginia Lake with its colourful light display for many more years to come.”
