Council staff receive national awards for customer service - 3/10/2012

Two Wanganui District Council staff led the field in the 2012 ALGIM Customer Services Awards.

Diana Doyle was named Local Government Customer Service Representative of the Year. She is the receptionist on the first floor of the Municipal Building in Guyton Street.

Raewyne Johnson was joint runner-up in the Customer Services Representative of the Year category. She is the events/communications officer at the Sarjeant Gallery.

ALGIM is the Association of Local Government Information Management. The ALGIM Customer Service Awards recognise and celebrate best practice in customer service amongst New Zealand local authorities. They aim to encourage local government staff to be innovative and to lead in serving communities. The awards also promote the image of local government customer service through the wider community.

“Customer service is a key focus for Wanganui District Council and we have really worked at raising our game – we punch well above our weight,” Customer Services Group Manager Melanie Heron said.

“We’re very proud that our staff have been recognised for their outstanding service. Staff at ALGIM have told us that the National Customer Services Representative of the Year for 2012 was highly contested with the largest number of nominations being made to date for this sought-after award.”

This is the fourth consecutive year Wanganui District Council has received a national award for its customer service.
