They aim to encourage local government staff to be innovative and to lead in serving communities. The awards also promote the image of local government customer service through the wider community.
“Customer service is a key focus for Wanganui District Council and we have really worked at raising our game – we punch well above our weight,” Customer Services Group Manager Melanie Heron said.
“We’re very proud that our staff have been recognised for their outstanding service. Staff at ALGIM have told us that the National Customer Services Representative of the Year for 2012 was highly contested with the largest number of nominations being made to date for this sought-after award.”
