Council defers Code of Conduct hearing - 11/03/2005Dot McKinnon, Chair of the Wanganui District Council's Audit and Administration Committee, says that the Council has decided to defer the Code of Conduct hearing against Mayor Michael Laws, set for Tuesday, March 15, to a later date.
"Tuesday's meeting has a full agenda and would not be able to give adequate time to hear subsequent deliberations. The Code of Conduct hearing will be rescheduled to a date that will enable a dedicated meeting to take place," says Cr McKinnon.
"Two of the original complainants are saying that there is little time before Tuesday for them to prepare. We respect the need for everyone to receive a proper hearing."
The new hearing date will be advised shortly – due to Council commitments and the Easter break, it is likely to be the end of March or early April. |
