Wanganui Airport, which provides for passenger, commercial and recreational operations, is located on the coast 8km from the city centre.

The Airport has a 1378 metre sealed runway with landing lights, pavement markings, apron and aircraft parking. In addition there are four grass runways, providing options in all winds.

Wanganui Airport has land for lease for commercial or Airport related uses.

The Airport Terminal, refurbished in 2007, provides high standards of passenger comfort and processing with Air New Zealand maintaining its terminal services in the building.

A number of local businesses and accommodation providers, together with taxi and rental car companies, are contactable directly from the terminal through well-presented business display boards and direct dial phones.

South Beach Cafe, operated by the Airport Authority, is open seven days a week and offers excellent coffee, light meals and breakfast for both the domestic passenger and passing pilots. Public toilets and both short and long term parking are provided.

The long term car park is controlled by a parking meter (pay by entering registration plate number) located in the terminal building which accepts coins and credit cards. The cost is $10.00 per day (24hrs). A card transaction will attract normal fees of 50c.

The car park is open from 6.30am until after the last incoming aircraft, and is secured and monitored at all other times.

At present commercial passenger flights are operated by Air New Zealand.

Wanganui Airport maintains a Part 139 Certification.

Operators wishing to pay landing fees en-route may do so at the Café, Air NZ check-in or the honesty box located at the workshop just east of the control tower.
